Labour’s Hillfields Candidates:
Councillor Craig Cheney
(Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Finance, Governance and Performance)
I have been a councillor for Hillfields since 2015. I am currently Deputy Mayor and cabinet member for Finance and your voice in City Hall. I proudly live in Hillfields with my family and enjoy being part of this community. I am a trustee of local organisations Hillfields Families & Community Trust, Barton Fields Trust and also helped set up the Friends of Coombe Brook – a group of local residents who work tirelessly to keep “the Gozzy” free from rubbish – as part of my ongoing passion for keeping Hillfields tidy.
Craig: I am very excited to represent Hillfields as your Labour candidate. I have lived locally for eight years, raising my young family here and I care deeply about making our community even better for people now and for future generations. If elected, I would work hard to bring people together on projects and issues that will make Hillfields the best it can be, with our collective wellbeing and compassion for the environment underpinning everything we do.
Ellie has lived in Fishponds for eight years, raising her young family here and is a passionate activist who is keen to work on local projects that bring people together, enrich and safeguard the community and protect our environment.
Together, they are keen to continue delivering for local residents. Craig is working to bring much needed community-led, affordable housing to empty land next to Hillfields Park. He has also secured funding of £90,000 to improve the building and provide quality facilities for the people of Hillfields. They will both continue to work hard to keep Hillfields clean and tidy, support community celebrations and enrichment groups, and ensure our green spaces are protected and improved.’
