Labour’s Eastville Candidates:
I am closely connected to Eastville; I learnt to swim in the (former) Speedwell Swimming Pool and first played football in Eastville Park. I’ve loved growing up here and want to make Eastville the best place it can be to live. I’ve worked for the MP for Bristol East, Kerry McCarthy, for the past 3 years. As a result, I’ve been involved in a wide range of local events and residents’ meetings, so I have a strong sense of the issues that are important to the community. I hope to be able to work with Sangeetha, Marvin Rees, and Kerry to empower people and improve the area.
I have been politically conscious since school. After being accepted on Operation Black Vote’s parliamentary shadowing scheme in 2017, I became even more active. This involved shadowing local MPs and councillors. I have volunteered for various local community groups and currently work as a teacher. I also have a passion for sports and previously coached young people athletics. As a Bristolian I’ve witnessed the changes of the city under a progressive labour administration. Coming from a diverse mixed heritage I wish to encourage more young people from different backgrounds to get involved in politics and have their voices heard.
I hope to be able to work with Sangeetha, Marvin Rees, and Kerry to empower people and improve the area. Marley Bennett
