Labour’s Clifton Candidates:
Raven studied Economics and Politics at Bristol University and since graduating has worked in Bristol as a Financial Analyst for the public sector. Over the past two years, Raven has been active in the Labour Party and the Bristol community, and has been an elected member of two local Bristol Constituency Labour Party (CLP) executive committees. He has been responsible for organising events to engage Labour members and the general public on various topics including Brexit, community wealth building and tax-reform. In 2019, Raven was delegate to Labour Party conference where he took part in drafting Labour’s Green New Deal composite motion. In 2020, Raven founded the Bristol Cooperative Alliance with the aim of bringing together local businesses, activists and communities to promote a green community wealth building strategy for the region.
In his spare time, Raven is an aspiring jazz guitarist and looks forward to a time when he can once again play at great local venues like like The Old Duke or listening to live music at local pubs like The Bristol Fringe on Princess Victoria St.
Paul has a planning degree from Bristol and management diploma from Kingston. He has worked extensively in affordable housing, including 10 years developing new homes in London, and 21 years in Bristol as CEO of Solon Housing Association.
Paul’s strengths include governance, development, financial and risk appraisal, and partnership working. A lifelong Labour Party supporter, Paul is passionate about levelling up, affordable housing and reversing climate change.
A keen rower and cyclist, he can usually be found on his bike, or rowing in the docks with Bristol Gig club, or in the pub talking about it. He is also an aspiring salsa and swing dancer and a fan of the Watershed, Tobacco Factory and many local hospitality businesses.
