Work is underway to deliver over a dozen new council houses on the site of the former Broomhill Elderly Persons Home Brislington East ward. Local Labour Councillor Mike Langley joined Mayor Marvin Rees and Cabinet member Paul Smith to mark the start of construction just weeks before new builds commenced in Henbury too. These new homes add to Labour’s record as the biggest council house-builders in a generation, following the news in our last newsletter that we are on course to exceed our manifesto target to deliver 2,000 homes – 800 of them affordable – per year by 2020.
